Elena Khudoyarova is the Senior Accountant at Cave Spring Cellars in Jordan. Her career is the result of the support, guidance and job search information she received when she joined the Job Finders Club to help her in her search of a new job opportunity in Niagara.

E.S. Fox Ltd. in Niagara Falls was searching for an outstanding individual to join their team in an entry level plumbing apprentice position. They required an individual with high school education, a college diploma in a technical discipline, and a mechanical aptitude. They were also searching for an individual that demonstrated a passion for the trade, a willingness to learn, and would be a great ‘fit’ for the company.
Ben Benard of St. Catharines was searching for an opportunity. He believed in himself and was looking for an employer that believed in him too. He had been working as a general labourer, but had earned Certifications in Welding, Confined Space and Rescue, Fall Arrest and WHMIS. He continued his educational journey and enrolled in the Maintenance Mechanic Fundamentals Certificate Program at Mohawk College.
E.S. Fox Ltd. posted an apprentice plumber position on www.apprenticesearch.com. This is a ‘no cost’ service, offered by the Business Education Council of Niagara, which allows employers to post apprenticeship opportunities on-line.
Ben Benard, registered on apprenticesearch.com as a job seeker and posted his resume. Once approved by the administrator, he was able to search for positions and receive job alerts as employers posted positions. One of those alerts told him that E.S. Fox Ltd. was looking for a plumber’s apprentice. Ben applied.
After considering all of the applications they received, Ben was hired and has joined Ron Critchley and the rest of the team at E.S.Fox Ltd.

Shelby Brown is a good example of how important it is to do career planning. Shelby graduated with a Bachelor of Science Honours Degree but was struggling with what to do with her degree and even questioned if she was in the right field.
Shelby was referred to the Career Planning Service at the Business Education Council of Niagara, funded by Employment Ontario. The staff at Career Planning Service completed several career assessments which assisted Shelby in determining a realistic field of study as well as various avenues for immediate employment. With help from Career Planning Service, Shelby worked on her resume to assist in her job search. Now in British Columbia, Shelby received a promotion after only a few months in her new position.
